I've blogged quite a few times about foraging certain herbs and vegetables from our garden up at the beach house, but I've never actually shown you what it all looks like! I thought I'd take you through some of the plants we have that I use some-what regularly in my cooking.
We're lucky in that we have the space and good weather conditions to harvest some of our fruit and vegetables. I really missed having one at our place in town, but made do with a couple of herbs as pot plants. My mum does a lot of work in the garden, tending to the weeds, installing a watering system (for when we're not there) and sourcing the soil. Unfortunately some of the plants have started to die in the past couples of weeks due to the wrong soil. Better luck next year!
In here you'll see peppers, capsicum, kale and some of our herbs.
My mum surprised me with my very own herb garden! Each night I cooked dinner I was walking to the glass house and back. She used an old wine barrel (cut in half) and filled it up with soil and some of my most used herbs. I now have quick access to rosemary, basil, parsley and chives. Thanks mum!
